Update - July 2008

With the skyrocketing value of Granular fertilisers, many farmers may employ a more conservative approach to the fertiliser program in upcoming cropping programs. This may entail a small amount of upfront fertiliser being applied at seeding and as the season progresses more top up fertiliser may be applied to fulfil the crops and seasons potential. In the past the only way to apply these Liquid top ups was thru the boomspray using conventional spray nozzles creating significant in crop leaf scorch. Former West Australian grain grower and Director of Central Wheatbelt Imports, Craig Gorfin has experienced these very same problems on his own crops in the Central Wheatbelt. Often saying after applying Flexi N, go away for 3 or 4 weeks before looking at the crop again as the scorch on the crop was heart breaking. He says these problems of scorching the crop can now be eliminated by using the Streamliner when applying Liquid Fertilisers.

The Streamliner has been developed in the UK by Billericay Farm Services and can eliminate that scorch for you. By applying the nitrogen or any liquid fertiliser in a stream you do not produce the fine droplets that many people believe creates the scorch seen on crops after applying Liquid N. In fact no liquid fertiliser is applied in the UK or Europe through conventional spray nozzles because of the damage and yield loss that this practise can cause.

The Streamliner is constructed of corrosion and impact resistant plastic that optimises the application of liquid fertiliser with four stabilised streams of liquid. The Streamliner is an accurate and economical method of applying liquid fertiliser to crops and will fit all standard nozzle holders. The Streamliner applies the liquid fertiliser through pre set openings along the bar. The application rates can be pre set to the desired rate by a simple turn of the flow rate dial which is a simple procedure and requires no special tool or fiddly changing of discs. This along with changing the pressure and or speed gives you an infinitely variable choice of application rates.

The Streamliner broadens the application window and allows liquid fertilisers to be applied in weather conditions that may prevent application of granules and prills and even liquids using conventional nozzles. Speed of application is also a major plus with the top end speed not really a restriction.

The accuracy of the Streamliner means spray drift is eliminated and there should be no contamination to surrounding crops or environment.

With more emphasis being placed on continual top up of nitrogen given changing seasonal outlooks and hay crops being priced on quality as well as quantity, the Streamliner will find a place for the discerning farmer in applying his liquid fertiliser program, be it conventional or biological.
